Traffic Advisory Committee - Published: 11 Jul 2005
When a scheme involving traffic control is proposed to Council, the advice of the local Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) must be taken into consideration. In particular the TAC must approve the installation of any regulatory sign or device (for example parking restrictions and pedestrian crossings). Roads & Intersections with Actual or Perceived Road Safety Problems - Published: 11 Jul 2005
Police report to the RTA on traffic accidents involving the occurrence of injuries or vehicles being towed away from the scene. Periodically details of these accidents are provided to Council's Engineering Services Division. Council Officers can use this data to determine which locations in the Great Lakes Council area are experiencing high numbers of reported accidents. more ..

Speed Limits - Published: 08 Jul 2005
Speed limits are determined by the Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) only. When determining whether a speed limit on a road is to be changed, the RTA may consult Council to determine Council's position. When a request for a change in speed limit is made to Council, this request is forwarded to the RTA by raising it as an item in the monthly Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting, which is attended by the RTA. more ..
