Roads & traffic
Great Lakes Council provides a range of services and performs many functions to improve and maintain the infrastructure within our local community.
Council's Transport Assets Section within the Engineering Services Division, in conjunction with Council's Traffic Engineer, is responsible for the construction, management and maintenance of the following assets:
- Bridges
- Bus Shelters
- Car Parks in Commercial Areas
- Cycleways
- Footpaths
- Roads
- Signs - Street/Road Name Signs, Traffic Signs, Directional Signs to Businesses & Tourist Facilities
- Stormwater Drains / Culverts
- Street Lighting - New
- Traffic Control Facilities, eg. pedestrian crossings
The Transport Assets Section, in conjunction with Council's Traffic Engineer, is also responsible for the administration and implementation of the following:
- Applications – Engineering Applications associated with Development Applications
- Civil Engineering Assessment of Development Applications
- Driveway Construction
- House Numbering – urban and rural properties
- Maintenance – receipt and processing of requests from members of the public for maintenance of Council assets
- Road Naming
- Road Safety Management
- Subdivision Linen Releases
- Traffic Management
