Planning & building

There are three primary sections within the Planning & Building Division - Strategic Landuse Planning, Development Assessment and Building Assessment.

Strategic landuse planning is the forward planning which provides an overall sense of direction and a context for detailed decisions that councils and state agencies must make on land use and service provision.

Development Assessment coordinates the assessment of most development and subdivision applications, dwelling entitlement searches and modifications to development consents.

Building Assessment assess development applications for most single dwelling houses and all construction certificates. The Building Branch may also act as the Principal Certifying Authority for Construction or Strata Subdivision works; and undertake compliance inspections for fire safety and places of public entertainment.

For further information contact Council's Customer Service Officers by phone (02) 6591 7222 or visit us at Breese Parade Forster, 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Please note that Strategic, Planning and Building Officers are generally available between 8.30am and 10.00am weekdays or by appointment.
