Barry Crocker entertains @ your libraryLast modified: October 29, 2009 - 12:39 AM
The multi-talented Barry Crocker affectionately known as Bazza by many, will be guest entertainer at the Great Lakes Library, Breese Parade Forster, on Monday 9 November at 2.30 pm. Barry has been a professional entertainer since 1955. He is regarded as one of the "greats" of the Australian entertainment industry. He sang the original recording of the theme song for Neighbours - the long-running multiple Logie Award-winning Australian soap opera, which first aired in March 1985. He has also had a highly successful career as an actor, most notably starring alongside Barry Humphries in The Adventures of Barry McKenzie. There is a copy of Barry's book The Adventures of Barry Crocker in the Forster Library. Apart from giving a fascinating account of a world many of us know little about, it is a story of perseverance and resilience. Barry Crocker was awarded the A.M. (Member of the Order of Australia) in the 1987 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the performing arts and to the community. His immense talents as a fine singer, comic impressionist and dramatic actor shine through in all of his performances captivating audiences, not only in Australia, but the UK and America as well. Rarely does such a famous entertainer come to this area. The Friends of the Great Lakes Library Inc. and the Great Lakes Library are delighted to be able to bring such a celebrity to Forster. Tickets only $12 (includes a delicious afternoon tea) on sale at the Forster Library and the Great Lakes Bookshop, Tuncurry. Early bookings recommended. Contact details |
