Council undertakes a number of projects that aim to rehabilitate and restore our diverse natural environments. Most of these projects are implemented as part of Councils adopted plans and strategies that have been prepared to address issues of primary concern. Great Lakes Coastal Catchments Initiative (CCI) - Published: 01 Jun 2009 The Coastal Catchments Initiative (CCI) was a Federal Government program that sought to achieve reduction in land-based pollution of coastal environments. more ..Wetland Management - Published: 06 May 2009 Council has commenced a series of programs and actions to ensure wetlands in our LGA and the Wallis Lake catchment are appropriately conserved, managed, and where required, restored. more .. Hawks Nest - Tea Gardens Endangered Koalas - Published: 01 Jun 2009 The population of koalas living within the Hawks Nest/ Tea Gardens region has severely declined. In Hawks Nest, at least 21 individuals were recorded in 1989 but as few as 12 were reported in 1998. The population is in immediate danger of extinction. more .. Environmental Special Rate (ESR) - Published: 06 May 2009 This special rate was introduced to fund environmental projects/works throughout the region. more ..
