Our natural environment is our greatest asset and requires ongoing protection and management to ensures its preservation for the present and future generations. Winner of the Thiess National Riverprize in 2004, Council has been recognised for its dedication to managing the local environment. This prestigious prize was awarded for excellence and innovation in river and catchment management. Recognised for the Wallis Lake Catchment Management Plan and Healthy Lakes Program, Council has utilised effective community and government agency partnerships to bring about improvement in the health of the lake and its catchment.
