Public Toilets

Last modified: June 29, 2009 - 11:19 AM

Public toilets are located throughout the Great Lakes area. Please refer to National Public Toilet Map for a list of public toilets within Great Lakes area.

Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) System

People with a disability have 24-hour access to Great Lakes Council controlled accessible toilets, using the Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) System.  These facilties are fitted with a MLAK lock and have key entry only.

The scheme, an initiative of the Master Locksmith Association, is already adopted in many Council areas throughout New South Wales. The same master key will give access to any facility operating under the MLAK system.

Accessible toilets fitted with the MLAK locks in the Great Lakes Council area are located at:

  • John Wright Park - Manning Street, Tuncurry
  • Pebbly Beach - Head Street, Forster
  • District Office - 245 Myall Street, Tea Gardens
  • RSL Hall - Church Lane, off Cowper Street, Stroud
  • Pacific Palms Tourist Information Centre - Boomerang Drive, Pacific Palms

Purchasing MLAK Keys

To purchase one of these keys, you simply need to complete an application form and pay the prescribed fee. You can obtain the information and application form at either the Great Lakes Council building in Forster, Tea Gardens District Office, Stroud District Office, Bulahdelah Visitors Information Centre or the Forster-Tuncurry Visitors Information Centre.

Should you experience any difficulties accessing these facilities, please contact the Community Services Business Support Officer, Great Lakes Council on 02 6591 7279 during business hours.

For further information on the MLAK System please click on the link What is the MLAK? or go to the website www.scia.org.au
